16 years on, comparing the predictions to reality is good fun. Two camps of thought: tech is accelerating versus tech is stagnating e.g. worldwide CPU/GPU shortage, Intel still on 14nm after 6 years, SSDs/HDDs rate of growth has slowed, tech prices still very high, cost of a computer upgrade higher now than it’s been for 30 years, Concorde retired, A-B speeds stagnant for decades, Apollo is ancient history, no new disease eradication for decades, etc.
