I’d have to listen to it to determine if the word “socialism” is being used as Marx meant it, as a precursor to communism, in which case that’s a terrible idea, or “socialism” as right wing Americans use the term: “the government doing anything for anyone who isn’t already rich” in which case that’s probably a great idea, the author is likely right and the government should start immediately.

As an American living in socialist Spain, I guarantee that where I live is better than any US city as far as livability goes. Not only do most of the chimps bad-mouthing socialism not understand it, they can’t even define capitalism. Unregulated capitalism is highly destructive, as we learned in the 2008 financial crisis.

Spain is a liberal democratic, market-oriented country. None of the countries here in the EU are socialist countries.

Broadscale socialism is the only rational way to organize society, especially given the number of fatal contradictions that global capitalism has let loose on the human race and our environment. The fact that degenerate right wingers can only repeat the same lines without ever addressing a real issue is proof enough that ideological false-consciousness is in full effect today.
